Explosive confirmation
Flags bars with aligned momentum, mid-range RSI and wide bars, but never fires with its default inputs.
ExplosiveConfirmation is a yes/no check on the current bar. It returns True only when four tests pass together: the short rate of change is above 0.008 (0.8%), the medium rate of change is above 0.003 (0.3%), RSI sits between 30 and 60, and ATR is above 1% of the close. It does not forecast a move. With the default RSI and ATR inputs, the RSI test and the ATR test can never pass, so it is False on every bar.
How to read it
- With default inputs no markers are drawn on any bar. That is the real output, not a hidden drawing.
- A marker means the short and medium rate of change were both up, RSI sat between 30 and 60, and ATR was above 1% of price, all on the same bar.
- Read it only after the RSI and ATR inputs are wired to scales where these tests can pass.
What it outputs
- Explosive setup
- True on a bar where all four tests pass together. With default inputs it is never True, so no markers are drawn.
When it fires
Would fire on a bar where all four tests pass together: momentum rising at two speeds, RSI mid-band and a wide bar range. With default inputs it never fires, so there is no such moment to read.
Settings
- period
- Has no effect. The code stores this value and never reads it, so the markers stay the same at every setting from 1 to 1000.
Pitfalls
- Never fires with default inputs. The RSI test cannot pass because basic.RSI runs from -1 to +1, and the ATR test cannot pass because ATR peaked at about 0.1% of price, not 1%.
- Rewiring RSI alone will not fix it. Even on a 0 to 100 RSI, the ATR test needs bar range above 1% of price, which the sample month never came near.
- The code only checks the current bar, while the name and docstring promise explosive profits. Nothing in it measures what price does next.
