Exponential momentum multiplier
A momentum-scaled multiplier that sat at its 1.51 ceiling on every SPY bar at default settings.
The indicator reads one momentum value from its input and clamps it at zero. It then returns 1 + 0.015 x base_multiplier^momentum, so the floor is about 1.015 at zero momentum; it returns 1.0 only if the math fails. The result is capped at the value reached when momentum equals max_cap, so any stronger momentum gives the same ceiling. The docstring calls it a multiplier for explosive profit strategies; it outputs a scale factor, not a price or a buy or sell signal.
How to read it
- The line sits in its own pane below the price, not on the candles.
- It never drops below about 1.015 and rises toward its ceiling as the momentum input climbs.
- On the September 2026 SPY sample the line is flat at 1.51018 the whole time, which means the momentum input never fell below 6.
- A flat line at the ceiling means the input is saturated; check that input before trusting this indicator.
What it outputs
- Multiplier
- A scale factor from about 1.015 at zero momentum up to a ceiling of 1.51 at default settings. Flat at the ceiling across the SPY sample.
Settings
- base_multiplier
- Growth base of the curve. Raising it steepens the rise and lifts the ceiling with it. Lowering it flattens the rise, and below 1 the boost shrinks as momentum grows. Negative values break it: fractional momentum returns 1.0.
- max_cap
- The momentum level where the output stops rising; anything above it adds nothing. Raising it lets the line climb further on strong momentum. Lowering it flattens the line sooner at a lower ceiling.
Pitfalls
- At default settings the line sat flat at the ceiling on the SPY sample, so the input was saturated and the indicator showed nothing about momentum.
- Momentum above roughly 1,200 at the default base overflows and the indicator returns 1.0, which looks like a sudden drop to no boost.
- The docstring says it suits explosive strategies, but it only scales its input; it does not detect breakouts, direction or volume.
