Max
The highest value of the last N bars, this bar included, drawn over the candles as a stepped ceiling.
Max keeps the largest of the last N values of its input, the current bar included. With the default input that is the highest close of the last 60 bars. The line jumps when a new high arrives, stays flat while that high is inside the window, and steps down when it drops out of the window.
How to read it
- The line sits on the price scale, at or above every close in the window.
- Where a close touches the line, the close is making a new N-bar high.
- A flat stretch means the high is still inside the window; a step down means it just dropped out.
What it outputs
- Max
- The largest close of the last N bars, this bar included, on the same scale as the candles.
Settings
- Window
- How many bars the high is taken over. Longer windows hold a high for longer and step less often; shorter ones follow the closes closely and touch them often.
Pitfalls
- The current bar counts, so a close can equal the line but never rise above it: 'close above Max' never fires. Compare with Max a bar earlier to catch a breakout.
