Where
The value on bars where a condition is on, and nothing on the others.
Where passes its input through on bars where the condition input is on, and leaves the other bars empty. Only an empty bar counts as off: a condition reading false still passes the value. The condition input has no default; on this chart it reads the close, which is on every bar, so the line follows the close unbroken.
How to read it
- The line sits on the price scale and breaks into pieces where the condition is off.
- On this chart the condition is the close, so there are no gaps; bind a signal in a strategy to see them.
What it outputs
- Value where on
- The close on bars where the condition is on; empty on the others.
Pitfalls
- A false reading is not off: use a condition that is empty when off, such as a comparison or a cross.
- A gap is an empty bar, not a zero; the value is not carried through it.
