SessionFilter
Passes price only inside a clock-time window, but this app never draws it: its time input gets prices, not timestamps.
SessionFilter keeps its values input only on bars whose clock time falls inside a window set by start and end hour and minute, and returns nothing on other bars. The window starts at the start time and stops just before the end time; a start later than the end wraps across midnight. It needs a timestamp on every bar, but the app feeds its time input the close price, which has no clock time, so every bar comes back empty at every setting.
How to read it
- Nothing draws in this app: the time input gets close prices, so the indicator returns nothing at any setting, presets included.
- If it did get timestamps, markers would cover every candle inside the window, from the start time up to the end time.
- Each marker carries the bar's price, so a marker means the bar was inside the window, not that price moved.
What it outputs
- In-window price
- The values input (close by default) on each bar whose clock time is inside the window; nothing outside it. Drawn as markers, though the value is a price, not a yes or no.
When it fires
Never in this app: the time input gets close prices, not timestamps, so nothing fires at any setting. Were it fed timestamps, every bar inside the window would fire, so a firing would mean only that the bar is in session, not a trade signal.
Settings
- start_hour
- Hour the window opens. Raising it moves the open later; past the end time the window wraps across midnight and covers the overnight hours instead of the day. Lowering it opens earlier.
- start_minute
- Minute the window opens, added to the start hour's minutes, so 10 and 15 means 10:15. 0 opens on the hour.
- end_hour
- Hour the window closes. The end bar itself is outside the window. Raising it past 23 runs the window to the last bar of the day. Lowering it closes earlier.
- end_minute
- Minute added to the end hour, so negative values close earlier: hour 16 with minus 30 closes at 15:30. The default 0 keeps the 16:00 close.
Pitfalls
- Never draws in this app: the time input is bound to close prices, which have no clock time, so every bar is empty at every setting, presets included.
- Even with timestamps, the output is the bar's price rather than a yes or no flag, so the markers show the window, not a trade signal.
- A start later than the end wraps across midnight, so start 17:30 with end 16:00 silently covers the overnight hours, not the day.
